FAA flight training is required for students pursuing the Bachelor of Science – Professional Pilot degree and either UVU associate degrees. Online students may complete flight training at Chico Flight Training, in Chico, California.
In addition to the standard UVU admission requirements, students should expect to complete additional steps to qualify and prepare for flight training. Online students will need to abide by any requirements of Chico Flight Training.
Programs offered within the UVU School of Aviation Sciences are designed to provide an affordable, flexible way for students to earn a degree. All programs are offered online, in the traditional classroom, or a combination of both. Bachelor of Science, Aviation Science – Professional Pilot
The Aviation Professional Pilot Emphasis prepares students for employment with airlines as well as private and corporate operators. UVU graduates are employed by U.S. and International airlines, cargo carriers, and corporate flight departments.
This degree prepares the student to enter the work force as a professional pilot at an intermediate to advanced level. The degree builds on the foundation in the A.S. and A.A.S. degrees. Students can obtain additional advanced ratings and deepen their knowledge of the pilot profession through an impressive range of course subject matter. Specific courses are designed to help the student pilot receive the training necessary to qualify for employment with a commuter airline.
Bachelor of Science, Aviation Science – Aviation Administration
Students seeking non-pilot careers in aviation, or who wish to pursue helicopter or non-fixed-wing training, are best suited for our Aviation Administration degree. Completion of the curriculum will produce a well-rounded graduate with a combination of industry knowledge as well as general business management skills. Graduates can find employment in a variety of areas within aviation and can be a useful bridge into graduate degree programs.
Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Science – Aviation Science
Students graduating with an AAS or AS in Aviation may transfer to the Bachelor of Science in Aviation Professional Pilot, or Bachelor of Science in Aviation Administration, for completion of a four-year degree.
